I am delighted to have exhibited my new work on bog scenes of Ireland in a July 2009 exhibition called Wet, Wild and Wonderful. The event took place in the Market House Gallery which is right in the centre of Mullingar, my adopted home. The gallery is recently refurbished and is an ideal location for exhibitions given its proximity and the natural light it enjoys.
Dr Patrick F. Wallace, Director of the National Museum of Ireland gave a wonderful, inspired speech on the relationship between artistic expression and the bogs to officially open the exhibition. When I spoke I was a little more nervous than usual - I'm not used to using microphones you see!
My son Niall also exhibited with me, which was very exciting. This was the first time in almost ten years. His exhibition was called 'Inner Light'. Both sets of paintings complemented each other marvelously. Inner Light is a series of watercoulours on paper, representing a visual exploration and vibrant expression of a spectrum of positive emotions, feelings and states of mind.
There was also a Turf Installations in the gallery during the exhibition thanks to Martin Moffat.
